Story
It is often said that the most meaningful journeys begin with a single heartbeat. For us, that heartbeat belonged to my beloved Sushie Bear. While I have been fortunate to share my life with many animals, none left an impact quite like my beautiful Sushie, who graced us with her presence for a remarkable 12 years and a bit—which in human terms was the equivalent of almost 100 years old.
When Sushie was young, the struggle to find truly expert care for small pets was overwhelming. I found that most local services were heavily dog-oriented, lacking the specific knowledge and attention to detail that rabbits and small animals require. The frustration of returning home to find my pets’ needs unmet led to a period where I simply stopped traveling altogether; I couldn’t bear the anxiety of leaving them in anything less than perfect hands. While I was eventually able to find wonderful, hand-picked carers for her in her later years, it was those early, difficult years and the lack of confident, specialized care that became the true catalyst for founding this service.
It was this realization that I didn’t have to settle that changed everything. Having already built a reputation among friends for my own meticulous approach to animal care, I knew I could bridge the gap. I founded Nibbles and Custard with a promise to provide the same unwavering, high-standard care I demanded for my own fur babies. Since then, the demand for our service has made it clear that many other owners are looking for exactly this level of dedication for their small animals.
While we are proud to provide care for all animals, our service is deeply rooted in a specialist focus on the health and well-being of small furries. Because of my OCD, every task is approached with a level of precision and meticulous attention that ensures total peace of mind for every owner. Today, the service lives on in Sushie’s memory; she was with me from the age of 19 until 31, and as our permanent mascot, her legacy remains the foundation of everything we do.
