My name is Saffra, and I’ve spent my entire life gravitating toward the world of animal care. You might know me locally as "The Hog Girl," a nickname I earned from running Hoggywobbles, my previous home-based hedgehog rescue that became a recognized name in wildlife conservation and education in Cambridgeshire. 

 

My journey began early; I was trimming bunny nails and cleaning pens by age five, and by eight, I was independently grooming and medicating family pets. My summers were spent on my grandparents' farm in Portugal, learning the ropes with goats, chickens, pigs and more.

 

As a teenager, I volunteered at the renowned Shepreth Hedgehog Hospital as part of my Duke of Edinburgh scheme, which sparked a lifelong love of rescue work.

 

Over the years, I have trained with various rabbit and guinea pig specialist rescues, learning vital standards of medical care, nutrition, and even the complex art of "bunny bonding." 

I’ve had the privilege of learning from incredible animal professionals, and I do my best to share that wisdom with other fellow pet parents. 

 

Why Nibbles & Custard?

 

I founded this service because I noticed a gap in the industry. I found that many services relied on "Google facts" rather than true, hands-on experience. More importantly, as a pet parent myself, I found that no matter who watched my own bunnies, they never quite matched my exacting standards. I knew I could do it better!

 

While living with chronic illness has its challenges, animals are what cheer me on my darkest days—it’s a win-win for everyone.
